Morocco Volunteering Holidays
Volunteering holidays are a brilliant way to really experience local culture and make a contribution to communities in need. However they are often only accessible to those with extended periods of free time available and often are very specific in the kind of projects undertaken e.g. building schools, hospitals, teaching etc.
At SheherazadVentures we can design trips in Morocco which allow for a short period of volunteering within a holiday of between 1-2 weeks. The activities that you bring to share will provide recreational and cultural activities to a small desert community for anything from 1-3 days.
This is an ideal way for absolutely anybody to get a taste of community work in a foreign setting whilst on holiday and seeing the sights.
Our ‘voliday’ will provide recreational activities for the community of M’Hamid el Ghizlane, a small village of settled nomads of both Berber and Saharan origins. Due to the nature of local daily life, the ‘voliday’ events takes place on a Sunday within a week-long holiday tour, either in the village itself or at a desert camp just 2km away. The activities/games etc. are delivered by the tourist under guidance from the SheherazadVentures director, using our local ground-team to handle logistics, community liaison and translation.
Can you lead games such as Twister, ‘Simon Says’, musical chairs, egg-and-spoon races, fun relay races, face-painting, balloon games etc. Then it’s up to you to host a party in the desert and invite the locals to join in! Or maybe you have a sports or music leadership qualification? Or for a more specific day-project can you bring football skills, softball or short tennis, or maybe circus skills, or how about a simple painting/crafts/recycling activity?
These holidays are suitable for youth groups, sixth-form students, university field-trips, groups of friends and large families with older children (mnimum age 16 years depending on the activities). A minimum number of 8 participants are required to make any event successful.
If you have a sports club, a youth group, a class of students, an arts/music group, a voluntary group that want to visit Morocco and take part in a ‘hands-on’ activity to share with local people then we will facilitate the whole thing for you and handle all local logistics, once we have approved that the activity you wish to offer is suitable and viable.

FUN FOR ALL - 8 days/7 nights to include a village or school fun-day (Sundays only) with party games, races, face-painting, team sports and prizes for all ages. You as the tourist will oversee a particular activity and bring the necessary materials (if not available in Morocco). Please contact us directly for more information.
DATING IN THE OASIS - Tour 9 days/8 nights with a 3-day immersion in local agricultural life during the date harvest of the Draa Valley (october/November). An ideal volunteering trip for adults (from 18yrs) who want to help gather the fruit and get it ready for local market-day. Please contact us directly for more information.
We are also open to your suggestions - do you lead any groups that might want to join you on an unforgettable arts holiday in Morocco and at the same time hold an afternoon open workshop offering your skill to local people? e.g. singing, drumming, mask-making, yoga, storytelling.
